Grant's Trail -- St. Louis MO

Pavement is good.  Pavement is very, VERY good.  What a marvelous 8 mile trail this is. Extremely well maintained. A not scary part of town, in my opinion. This takes you past Grant's Farm where the Budweiser Clydesdales live and you get to see many of them out in their pastures. It also travels past the Ulysses S Grant National Historical Site.  We rode this entire trail in the rain, save for the last 3 miles or so when it finally decided to stop drizzling.  It was a Friday afternoon and even in the rain, the trail was being utilized. I would estimate we encountered between 25-35 other users, walkers, joggers and cyclists.

There are multiple trailheads all along the path.  We recommend the one we used (and encountered quite by accident).  We had planned to spend the morning touring the Sappington House Museum.  As it turns out when we pulled into the parking lot, it is actually just adjacent to Grant's Trail.  Although not listed as a designated parking spot on the Grant's Trail website of designated parking areas, we utilized it and didn't come back to find a ticket on our windshield.  Also, when we first pulled up, another cyclist was just coming off the trail and loaded her bike onto the car right next to ours, so obviously we aren't the only ones to utilize that parking lot for trail parking. It is in an upscale area that I felt completely comfortable leaving our car in.

A recommended fun and easy ride through suburban St. Louis. The ride past the Clydesdales was my favorite part of the trail.

What she said! We rode hard and got put away wet!  But it was all worth it!  When we first started out I was a little annoyed by the street lights we had to stop at.  By the end they were a welcome respite for your legs.  We finished the evening by rewarding ourselves with Mexican food at a place I thought had gone out of business.  Chevy's Mexican Grill!  It was awesome!  We had some Chicken Flautas with Pineapple salsa and Jalapeno Jelly for dipping that were out of this world!  Chevy's as my Father would say was a Percipient Choice! Tomorrow though we will have to Just Keep on Pedaling to work off tonight's dinner! I'm Out!
