It's a great trail with a wonderful smooth concrete surface.
We've ridden most of the trails in the KC metro area over the last 7 years and we decided today that although there are several areas where we encountered a malodor from the creek, this trail tops our list as being one of the prettiest trails in Kansas City.
There are a couple of little waterfalls along the trail. One of them was very near to a trailhead area and was obviously one of the main destination areas of this trail, because that particular area of the trail was quite congested with people walking dogs, families with kids on bikes, and other cyclists. However, the second waterfall did not really provide easy access into the creek so it did not have a crowd around it. We stopped and took a couple of pictures.
In 2019, according to this article, many beautiful butterfly art projects were installed along the trail to "focus on monarch butterflies and their importance as pollinators. As Riverside is part of the annual monarch butterfly migration path, city park board members decided last year this was a fitting place to start."
So much wonderful art to add even more beauty to this trail. Love it!!
Pretty sun rays poking through a raincloud that provided a very short-lived shower on the drive home.
We congratulated ourselves on the strenuous ride by splurging on some frozen custard concretes from Culver's at Legends. He had vanilla/strawberry, she had vanilla salted caramel with Butterfinger. Divine!!!
